The II Marine Expeditionary Force, Military Working Dog Platoon, Camp Lejeune, NC called on DHL Global Forwarding Governments & Defense Team to discuss a first time special mission to move Military Working Dogs to Alpha Company Headquarters Battalion Provost Marshals Office/Military Working Dogs Twenty-Nine Palms, CA for special missions training.

These dogs are trained in explosive detection which searches for explosives or explosive residue; Narcotic detection which searches for numerous types of drugs; and Tracker dogs. The dog’s names are "Amber", Belgian Malinois, "Anca", Sheppard, and "Speedy", Black Lab. Their personal medical and training records had to be hand carried and turned over via signature required and not revealed to anyone. The dogs had to travel under control temperature requirements and had to be checked on during connecting flights. This mission was accomplished as required by the Military Provost, Camp Lejeune.
Halloween Candy Sent to Troops and their Families
The M&M Distribution Center collaborated with the Governments & Defense Team to ship more than 25,000 lbs of candy to the troops and their families to Bahrain, Guam, and Japan just in time for Halloween.

Roberta and Terry remained flexible during this move and ensured the chocolates were shipped in specialized refrigerated containers so that when they left the M&Ms distribution center frozen they would slowly thaw enroute and be ready to go on the shelf upon arrival. This was not the normal move for our team as it did not involve heavy armor or spare parts but a mission is a mission and the troops moral and welfare are of the utmost importance especially during any holiday.
Submarine Safe and Sound in the Seychelles
After DHL Global Forwarding Governments & Defense Team received a request from the Submarine Command in Norfolk, VA about the possibility of flying a mini sub to the Seychelles islands we assembled a team to route a plan and successfully load and deliver the sub to Seychelles in a week for the Navy!

For the Troops sends 10,000th Package with help from DGF
For the Troops is a non profit group who started their work out of a garage with about 300 volunteers helping to sort, pack and ship boxes to our brave American Heroes.

The organization had been blessed with donations of items to fill the boxes and the volunteers to help stuff them but in these hard economic times the donations have been plentiful but the money to ship has slowed down.
For the Troops then contacted DHL Global Forwarding Governments & Defense Team requesting help with sending care packages to the front line troops, those who face the most hardship while performing their jobs. With the help of DGF office donations, For the Troops was able to send 10,000 care packages to our freedom fighters in Iraq and Afghanistan.

Million Pound Move for the Marines
The Marine Corps System Command in Quantico, VA contracted the Plasan Engineering Corp, a global leader in the field of combat-proven ballistic armor solutions for vehicles, to supply the new Marine MRAP’s with the total vehicle protection up armor, which protects against small arms, Improvised Explosive Devices and mines.

Since it took a while for the contract amendments to be put into place the entire up armor consignment had to be shipped via air. The Defense Contract Management Agency in Wiesbaden West Germany was given the task of choosing the transportation company with the best solution. DCMA chose DGF and the entire 1,000,000 lbs of freight were put on nine 747 charters and all freight was delivered door to door to final destination in 1 week. This made DCMA and the Marines very happy in that these newly deployed vehicles will be saving lives in the war zone.
USNS Rainer Completes Mission with Help from DGF
During routine operations Jan 09 in the Pacific Ocean, the USNS Rainier experienced problems with the propeller shaft and couldn’t maneuver through the water.

The ship managed to get to Santa Rita Guam dry dock for emergency repairs. The Military Sealift Fleet Support Command, who is responsible for all shipboard repairs, called DHL Global Forwarding for assistance to ship a shaft and associated repair parts to get this ship back on its Mission. Since there aren’t any freighters that service Guam, DGF Governments & Defense Team had to hot shot this freight to Osaka, Japan where a B727 was waiting to uplift these parts into Guam right away.

This very extensive domestic move is one of the many services DGF provides to the US ARMY.
The Armored Vehicle Launched Bridge M60A1 is a vehicle used for launching and retrieving a 60-foot scissors-type bridge. Used during combat, an AVLB is a folding portable bridge that is transported on the top of a tank chassis. The bridge and vehicle total weight is 46 tons and when emplaced in less than 2 minutes is capable of supporting tracked and wheeled vehicles with a military load bearing capacity up to Class 60. The roadway width of the AVLB is 12 feet, 6 inches and when unfolded, it can span up to 60 feet while supporting 70 tons of equipment.
