Assembly, Kitting and Co-packing Services

DHL Global Forwarding operates a range of services to pack, prepare and customize your products for different markets.

Product assembly/postponement/configuration

We can assemble finished products from modules and components, and help you implement a postponement strategy. By producing large runs of standardized products and then customizing them for local markets in the downstream supply chain, stockholdings can be minimized and inventory obsolescence reduced. We offer a wide range of postponement services and processes - including tailored packaging and bundling, hardware configuration, software installation, and localization, such as the addition of documentation and labels.

Kitting/pre-assembly

Kitting is the addition of items such as accessories and batteries into the product pack. Pre-assembly is the completion of finished merchandise from component parts, or the pre-programming of products. DHL Global Forwarding offers a full range of these services, including materials and order management, component kit build, assembly line operations, packing, shrink-wrapping and blister packs.

Sequencing/line feeding

We can implement the consolidation, pre-assembly and sequencing of materials flows into the manufacturing process. Line-feeding covers the delivery of assembled components to a production line on a just-in-time or just-in-sequence basis.

Co-packing

Contract packing involves the integration of outsourced packing operations into distribution centers, to increase flexibility and streamline fulfillment. This reduces cost, enhances product visibility and control, and increases speed-to-market. Packaging design

Pre-retail Services

Re-work/re-packing/returns management

Re-work or redress is the customization or modification of products, often to suit a local market. It covers the re-packing of finished products to support product launches and promotions, and can also include re-palletization.

Labeling and tagging

We’re able to apply labels, either to the product or its packaging. This includes swing tags, kimball/security tags, RFID tags, price stickers and other promotional labeling.

Garment processing

We perform all activities to fashion garments to make them ready for the shop floor: unpacking and de-shrouding, steam pressing, hanging and folding.
