DHL, the world’s leading logistics company, today announces an expanded relationship with Weatherford International Ltd., one of the largest global providers of advanced products and services that span the drilling, evaluation, completion, production, and intervention cycles of oil and natural gas wells. DHL Global Forwarding will provide supply chain services in support of Weatherford’s U.S. and Canadian export activities to the Asia Pacific region.
DHL Global Forwarding Oil & Energy Division will provide air, ocean, inland, and packing services for Weatherford’s drilling, evaluation, completion and production activities. These services are in addition to brokerage services for imports to the United States, as well as customs brokerage services in Southeast Asia, and intra-Asia supply chain services currently managed by DHL Global Forwarding.
Yvette Epstein, Global Logistics Manager of Weatherford International Ltd. stated, “We are very pleased to continue the business partnership with DHL Global Forwarding and know that through their global network and expertise our business needs will be served well.”
Steve Harley, DHL Global Forwarding Vice President Oil & Energy Division said, “This is a significant new addition to the services we provide to Weatherford. The award reflects the growing strength and expertise of our global Oil & Energy logistics teams, especially in Asia and North America.”
DHL Global Forwarding recently announced a dedicated Oil and Energy Center of Excellence (COE) in Singapore to serve the Asia Pacific region, as DHL expands its global network of Oil and Energy Expertise centers to capitalize on market demand. DHL runs seven similar centers across the U.S. (Houston, TX), Europe, Middle East and Africa to support the growth of multiple business divisions servicing the world’s energy suppliers.
“With a strong presence in all key sourcing territories, DHL is well-equipped to provide Oil and Energy companies with integrated supply chain services including bulk transportation, heavy lift and customs clearance,” said Hans Toggweiler, Global Head of Oil & Energy for DHL Global Forwarding and CEO Americas.
The oil and energy industry poses numerous logistics challenges. These include a broad diversity of cargo that differs in dimension, weight and type of commodity; a complex customs environment; remote locations for most manufacturing sites; compliance to high quality, health, safety and environment standards; and a high cost impact in the event of delays in the supply chain.
