Importers of products that are subject to excise taxes are advised of a change in the platform for electronic payment of excise taxes as published by Customs Border Protection (CBP) in a recent Information notice as below. Additional information is available at the following site: https://www.pay.gov/paygov/
Access ID and passwords as well as and user instructions are available on line for participation in the Pay.gov program. Please note that CBP advises that the current electronic funds transfer (EFT) payment process will be sustained temporarily, however, payment acceptance will ultimately migrate to the Pay.gov program. No specific transfer date has been named.
In order to ensure a clean transition from one payment platform to another, we recommend that you take the necessary steps to prepare for future payments through Pay.gov.

SUBJECT: Web Based Payment of Excise Taxes
U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) has migrated payment of excise taxes to the Pay.gov platform through the use of ACE debit transactions. This is in addition to Fed wire.
The two systems will operate simultaneously, but eventually Pay.gov will be the only method of electronic funds transfers (EFT) for the payment of excise taxes. CBP is encouraging all participants to switch to Pay.gov as soon as possible. The attached guide provides instructions for submitting your excise tax payments to CBP using Pay.gov.
