Issue 66, November 10, 2008
On the 10th November, DPWN’s Board of Management, led by Frank Appel, CEO delivered a series of announcements to the capital markets including the news that DHL Express will be exiting the US domestic and ground network to concentrate on its core competence in international express shipping in order to bring its financial performance in line with shareholder expectations.
As a result of DHL Express’ revised international focus, they will be discontinuing their U.S. Domestic and Ground products effective January 30th, 2009.
The DPWN Board of Management stressed that the DHL Express announcement does not affect DHL Global Forwarding, Freight, DHL Exel Supply Chain or DHL Global Mail.
DHL Global Forwarding remains the global market leader in both air and ocean freight. We will continue to provide a range of transportation and logistic services, including our strengthened U.S. Domestic Heavy Weight service to meet your current and future logistic needs.
We wish to make it explicitly clear that DHL Global Forwarding’s employees, facilities and services to customers both in the U.S. and across the world are not impacted by the changes being made to the DHL Express U.S. network.
Nevertheless, if you have any concerns or questions about this development, please do not hesitate to call your local DHL Global Forwarding sales representative. We will be more than happy to discuss this matter with you further at your convenience.
Yours sincerely,
Brian Lindholm
