Issue 7, January 15, 2009
As previously announced, DHL Global Forwarding is ready to begin filing your ISF 10+2 information in accordance with U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) Interim Final Rule for Importer Security Filing (ISF), or ISF 10+2. We look forward to providing these services on your behalf. Our goal is to exceed your business needs and expectations.
DGF offers several processing options for our customers. To begin utilizing our services, we will need a valid Power of Attorney, continuous bond and a completed nomination letter. Below is an outline of the three main processing options.
DGF Customs Brokerage and Ocean Forwarding: Current customers who have completed the nomination letter and utilize DGF services for Customs Brokerage and Ocean Forwarding will automatically be set up to process ISF 10+2, on January 26, 2009. DGF has simplified the set-up process by loading your past entry information from our Customs Brokerage system into our ISF 10+2 filing software. On January 26, 2009, our origin offices will originate the ISF filing. Your ISF will then be completed using your classification database by our US brokerage operations. The same CHB operation handling your customs clearance will be processing your ISF.
DGF Customs Brokerage and Non – DGF Ocean Forwarder/Steamship: Customers currently utilizing DGF Customs Brokerage services will automatically be set up to process ISF 10+2 on January 26, 2009. Again we have simplified the set-up process by loading your past entry information from our Customs Brokerage system into our ISF 10+2 filing software. The Importer of Record will have to coordinate with the shipper/forwarder/steamship to send the commercial shipping documents to your current CHB contact 48 hours prior to sailing. Once the proper documentation has been received, DGF will file the ISF 10+2 on your behalf. Proper notification that ISF 10+2 has been filed will be sent back to the sender advising that ISF has been accepted and to confirm the shipment can move into the United States.
DGF Ocean Forwarding customers not utilizing DGF Customs Brokerage Services: DGF services will file the ISF 10+2 data elements on your behalf. We will need to obtain a valid Power of Attorney, continuous bond, nomination letter and the following set-up information.
